Student Enrollment Agreement
Bloom School of Aesthetics
Admission requirements: Be at least 16 years of age and have completed at least two years of high school or received at least a score of 38% on the GED or HiSET examination.
Admission policy: Students that meet the admission requirements will schedule a tour and sit for an interview with the director of Bloom School of Aesthetics. A new student application will be completed. This enrollment agreement is provided for the student’s review. Once signed by the student and Bloom representative, this is a binding contract between the student and Bloom School of Aesthetics. The student is considered admitted and enrollment fees of $1,400 are due.
Requirements for graduation: Successful completion of 750 hours in the program, as demonstrated by a theory and testing average of 70% or greater and satisfactory performance of practical skills. Hours will be submitted to the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers Examiners by the 10th of each month, with final hours submitted after all outstanding balances have been paid.
Requirements for licensure: After completion of 750 hours in the program, the individual will be able to schedule testing through the applicable testing vendor (such as PSI Examiners). Upon successful completion of theory and practical testing, licensure is granted by the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers Examiners.
Record of attendance: Daily attendance will be recorded using the designated time tracking app, and a written log will be kept. If a student fails to log in using the app, they shall notify the instructor to rectify the error and continue with the written record.
Duration of program: Students are considered full time at 30 hours per week. The program can be completed in approximately 6 months with some variation based on holidays, weather delays/closings, or absences. A part time option is also available upon request. Time tracking will be separate for full and part-time students, if applicable.
Operating/student hours: Monday: 8:30-5:30 (8 hours) Tuesday: 8:30-5:30 (8 hours) Wednesday: Synchronous Instructor guided distance learning (4 hours) Thursday: Synchronous Instructor guided distance learning (4 hours) Saturday: 8:00-2:00 (6 hours)
Curriculum: Bloom School of Aesthetics is a specialty school and will only include instruction in aesthetics. Milady curriculum will be followed. The 750 clock hours/22.5 credit hours of instruction required of an applicant for a license to practice aesthetics shall be apportioned as follows: General-150 clock hours/4.5 credit hours. Sterilization, sanitation and bacteriology, professional ethics, personality, salesmanship, anatomy and physiology, and state law. Chemical-150 clock hours/4.5 credit hours. Skin conditions and disorders, nutrition, aging factors, product ingredients and usage, waxing, lash and brow tinting, OSHA and EPA requirements. Physical- 450 clock hours/13.5 credit hours. Massage movements and manipulations, masks and packs, facial treatments with and without the use of machines, skin analysis and consultation, application of all products and machines, color psychology, make-up and corrective make-up arching. Students will receive instruction on and have opportunities to practice and enhance their skills in the following: facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, spray tanning, lash lift and tint, lash extensions, brow lamination and tint, make-up artistry, and waxing. Students are permitted to perform services on patrons after completing 150 hours. It shall be clearly posted that all services are performed by students under the supervision of their instructor. All monies paid for services is the property of Bloom School of Aesthetics. Students will be expected to perform and receive services from fellow students.
Sanitary code: The school will be kept in an orderly and clean fashion, free of dust, dirt, or other debris. Floors shall be vacuumed and mopped daily, and all surfaces will be wiped clean with an EPA approved disinfectant. A task system will be in place to share duties among students and staff to keep the school in optimal working order. Students, instructors, employees, or visitors shall not enter the school if they have open sores, contagious illness, fever, parasitic or infectious diseases. A doctor's note may be required for returning to school. All individuals are required to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water before commencing a service. Students will be required to demonstrate appropriate sanitation before advancing to the student spa, icluding but not limited to wet and dry sanitation. Students must also demonstrate a clear understanding of contamination avoidance. If contamination were to occur the student must notify the instructor immediately. Any exposure to blood borne pathogens shall also be immediately reported to the instructor, at which time the blood borne pathogen protocol will go into effect. A blood spill kit will be kept on site and readily available to all students and staff, as well as an eye wash station. Linens and towels shall be changed and laundered after each use. Gloves and cleaning supplies will be provided by the school. However, gloves are not a replacement for proper hand washing or sanitization.
Tuition: Total program cost is $10,400 (reduced for inaugural class as of 6/26/23). The first installment consists of a non-refundable enrollment fee of $1,400. The remaining tuition is distributed evenly over the duration of the program. Major credit cards are accepted. If paid in full a 5% discount is offered. A late fee of $50 is applied if payment is not received by the 10th of each month. Tuition includes Milady text and workbook, individual make-up and student supply kits, use of high-quality products, tools, and machines throughout the duration of the program. The student will be required to carry personal liability insurance, and this cost is approximately $75 per year. Assistance to obtain insurance can be provided by Bloom School of Aesthetics at the student’s request. Proof of insurance is required upon starting the program.
Transfer Students: Bloom School of Aesthetics will accept transfer students from comparable aesthetic programs. Their remaining hours will be pro-rated. A non-refundable transfer fee of $400 will apply.
Refunds: Enrollment fees are non-refundable. If a student desires to withdraw from the program, this must be provided in writing. There will be no refund of monies paid regarding completed hours, and monies owed for accumulated hours shall be collectible. Students will be allowed to exit the program and will not owe money for hours that are not completed. Refunds are only provided under circumstances in which Bloom School of Aesthetics becomes inoperable, as detailed in the contingency plan.
Contingency and teach out plan: In the event of interruption of the school's normal program scheduling, such as but not limited to damage to the facility or natural disaster, the standard distance learning portion of the program will continue for up to 1 month. Once classes can resume at the normal schedule (I.e., in a repaired or new facility), attempts will be made to recover hours lost through optional make-up classes on Saturday afternoons and some evenings to maintain timely graduation from the program. If classes are not able to resume after 4 weeks, students will be offered assistance to transfer to a comparable aesthetics program within 1 hour’s distance of their current location. As of date, institutions accepting transfer students include but may not be limited to programs in Sweetwater TN (approx. 30 miles), Maryville TN (approx. 25 miles), and Knoxville TN (approx. 25 miles). If transfer to another institution occurs, no refund is provided for hours completed. If Bloom School of Aesthetics cannot resume normal operations, and transfer cannot be arranged or the student is not agreeable to transfer, the student will be provided with a refund of monies paid and the contract becomes null. Refunds will be provided within 45 days of the student’s last day of attendance.
Dress code: Students shall wear solid-colored scrubs in the color of their choice. Scrubs shall be clean and wrinkle free. Hair shall be kept neat and pulled away from the face when performing services. Make-up shall be conservative and professional. Fingernails shall be neat and clean.
Termination and Harassment policy: The following may be grounds for termination at the discretion of the director at Bloom School of Aesthetics: 45 days late on fees, inappropriate or violent behavior, harassment (verbal, visual, or physical), theft, non-compliance with sanitation process, or unsafe practices in the student skills lab or spa. This list is not all inclusive. Upon termination, no refunds are given for monies paid for hours completed, and payment is due and collectable for all completed hours. The contract becomes null upon termination and the student does not owe for hours not completed.
Smoking policy: Bloom School of Aesthetics is a non-smoking, no vaping environment, including areas visible on the sidewalk, behind the building or in the parking lot of the school.
Discrimination policy: Bloom School of Aesthetics will not deny a student or patron based on gender, religion, age, disability, sexuality, or race. The aim is to provide an environment where students, staff, and patrons are treated fairly and with respect, and are free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
Obligations and rights of Bloom School of Aesthetics: Our school is dedicated to providing a quality education in aesthetics. Bloom School of Aesthetics does not guarantee a passing score on examinations for licensure, but does provide test preparation throughout the program, and will aid post graduate students at their request. Bloom School of Aesthetics will provide a clean and well-functioning classroom and student spa for the individual to form a basic understanding of aesthetics and the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skillset throughout the program. The school will provide sufficient, quality educational materials, tools, facial machines, and products. The school reserves the right to make minor schedule changes.
Obligations and rights of students: The student is expected to attend class regularly with minimal absences, actively participate in distance learning activities, accurately record hours for both in-person and distance learning, and arrive prepared to participate in the classroom and spa. The student is expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeaner, especially when interacting with patrons in the student spa. The student is expected to complete assignments and tests with integrity. If the student has a complaint with Bloom School of Aesthetics, the student agrees to address the concern with the director, and will not spread negativity amongst other students, nor shall the individual make negative comments on social media without allowing the school the opportunity to first rectify the issue. The student has the right to receive a quality education in a safe, clean and well-equipped institution. The student has the right to voice their concerns if they feel the obligations of the school are not being met, and the school will address the student's concerns to the best of their ability in a timely manner.
